Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception at the European Parliament
The European district brings Strasbourg in its status of European Capital, frontier city at the crossroads of cultures and a symbol of reconciliation and cooperation between the peoples of Europe. The European quarter was established on the confluence of the river Ill and the Marne-Rhin canal. The Palais de l'Europe houses the Council of Europe. The European Parliament streches out in the form of a delta alongside the river.

Alsacian Evening
No visit to Strasbourg is complete without a cruise on the river Ill and the canals which bathe "La Petite France". You will discover the Ponts Couverts (the covered bridges) over the Ill, which are part of the fortified wall surrounding Strasbourg, built between 1200 and 1250. The abundant water supply was used for the washing of hides in this tanners' district. The canals are lined with houses which date back to the 16th and 17th centuries. These beautiful half-timbered houses are one of the charms of our city. During the cruise (50 mn), you will taste renowned Alsacian wines (and beers!) |
|
After the boat tour and at a 5 mn walking from the embankment to the Cathedral, you will enjoy a dinner at the famous "Maison Kammerzell", one of the most beautiful house of Strasbourg, located just in front of the Cathedral. This house possesses a 15th century ground floor with half-timbered upperfloors with a corbelled construction. The half-timbering, pierced by many windows, is richly decorated with wooden sculptures, and the interior was painted in the "lansquenet" style in 1905.

Enjoy performances from the renowned artists of one of the three most famous French Music-Hall. And dance over the night with a live band!
|
Champagne BuffetAfter the Closing Ceremony, which will take place on Sunday 27th at 11h30 in the Auditorium Schweitzer, it will be time to say goodbye over a "Coupe de Champagne" and canapés. |
